The Arc's Center for Future Planning

About Us

The Center for Future Planning is a program of The Arc of the United States, the oldest and largest advocacy organization that promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

The Arc was established in 1950 from a grassroots movement of families working to create services for their children and adults with an intellectual disability. Today, The Arc has a large network of nearly 600 chapters that provide support to more than 1.4 million people across the the United States.

The Center for Future Planning supports and encourages adults with IDD and their families to plan for the future.

We provide reliable information to people with IDD, their family members and friends, professionals who support them, and other members of the community on areas such as person-centered planning, decision-making, housing options, and financial planning.

We encourage you to explore our resources and begin building your future plan.
